Jaguar I-PACE winter testing
The all-electric Jaguar I-PACE has been Green Car Guide’s most hotly-anticipated new car of 2018 for well over a year, and the final production version will be revealed on 1 March 2018, when the pricing will also be announced (although prices are expected to start from around £70,000 in the UK), along with the order books opening.
The Jaguar I-PACE, with sports car performance and SUV practicality, will deliver both rapid charging and rapid performance when it goes on sale on 1 March, as it will be capable of charging from zero to 80 per cent charge in 45 minutes, using a DC 100kW charger.
Featuring two compact electric motors integrated into the front and rear axles, this new model offers a combined power output of 400PS and 700Nm of torque. The car is expected to have a 0-60mph time of around 4 seconds and a 300 mile range.
Customers will be able to use mains power to prepare the car’s battery and cabin temperature ahead of a journey. Pre-conditioning the car ensures maximum range, performance and comfort whether temperatures are freezing cold or extremely hot. Setting up preferred charging times and pre-conditioning schedules can be done from either the on-board InControl system, or the Remote smartphone APP, and is as easy as setting an alarm.
The all-wheel-drive I-PACE has been rigorously tested across extremes of terrain and temperature, including at Jaguar Land Rover’s cold weather test facility in Arjeplog, Sweden, at temperatures as low as -40°C.
The I-PACE will be revealed in a live global broadcast on 19:00 CET on 1 March 2018, and will go on to make its public premiere at the Geneva Motor Show on 6 March 2018.
